Urban Fishing

With a lot of our favorite fishing destinations being over an hour drive and others, still icing off from the winter, we have decided that we would make the best of what was available locally. We have made various trips to community fisheries and had decent success. The best part is that the fish we are catching are mostly Largemouth Bass. These suckers are so fun to catch! They put up a really good fight and they are easy to unhook, get a picture and release, unlike slimy trout. However there has been some Lake Trout thrown in the mix and those fish all seem to be broodstock from the hatchery. Most of their fins are worn down to nubs from their cement environment that they have been surrounded by for majority of their lives.

These are some fish I caught one night after work. I caught a lot of fish on topwater that night. It was a blast!

Here's a nice Largemouth that I landed over the weekend at Salem Pond. We also saw some monster trout get caught that day including a brood stock Lake Trout that Ryan caught.

Here are some other pics of fish caught recently at local area ponds.

Ryan was able to hook up with some Crappie.

Ryan and I managed to hook up at the same time while standing right next to eachother on the shore. His fish was a little beefier than mine but I've still got him beat in other areas.

Here are a few Largemouth Bass I was able to catch. The fish aren't really long but for the most part they are really healthy and they do put up a really good fight.

Ryan landed his fair share as well.

I recently went fishing to another location by myself and managed to pull in some decent fish.
