Spring Fishing

Spring has gotten off to a good start. Utah Lake has been good to us so far and the bass are getting active early. The ice has come off everywhere except for Strawberry and we're hoping for some ice off fishing there soon.

This little guy was caught at Salem Pond. I let him go to hopefully catch him again in a few years when he's much bigger.

Dan has been making many trips to Mexi Marsh to go after the white bass with hopes of catching a nice Walleye. He looks like a Mexican so he fits in there perfectly until the Mexican fisherman start to speak spanish to him and he has to look at them like he's retarded.

I've been lucky enough to pull some Large Mouth early out of Utah Lake this year. Hopefully I'll get some that are decent size in the near future.

One thing I've never seen before at Utah Lake are turtles. I've seen a few the last couple of times I've been fishing there.

Ice Fishing

Ice Fishing sure was fun this season. It was our first season out ice fishing and for all of us being a novice to this new way of fishing, I think we did alright. We got out as much as we could and learned to love this new way of fishing. A couple of days spent on Strawberry fishing in negative temperatures were well worth the trips. I had no idea how addicting ice fishing could be. I had herd all the stories and have found many people who prefer ice fishing over many other methods of fishing. I am excited for the ice to be gone but now at least we have a way to entertain our selves during the Winter months.

Bear Lake

Ryan and I are well aware of the Fall spawn of the Macks at Bear Lake. We were lucky enough to take my little 11 foot fishing boat out on the lake in very gusty weather among some enormous swells. We stabled the boat and positioned it so that we wouldn't capsize. After we anchored, we began to fish and immediately had success. The fishing was short due to the increasing size of the waves but what a blast!

A few weeks later Ryan and I were lucky enough to go out on the Pirate Ship with Rich (RDRRM8E) from http://www.freeformfishing.com/ and he was able to show us how to catch the macks.

We also were able to get into some more macks and Ryan caught some nice Cuts as well.

2006 Fishing

2006 was a great year of fishing. We were able to finally get into some large fish at Strawberry and get into some different species of bass. Large Mouth are a blast and Small Mouth are unbelievable and of course you can't forget about the Stripers.

This is a Large Mouth I caught at a local pond. He faught me for close to 3 or 4 minutes. I wish I would of had something other than my ultra lite that day. What a fun fish!

Deer Creek provided some fun Small Mouth fishing. These suckers are a blast! You think you've got a monster on the other end of your line but to pull it up and see a little 14 inch smallie on the other end is still no dissapointment.

Jordanelle was also a great place to get into the Small Mouth.

Sand Hollow was a blast as well! It was our crash course on how to catch Large Mouth!

The night time at Sand Hollow seemed to be the best time to catch the big fish.

Here's Ryan with a MONSTER Large Mouth. This was our first time catching these fish and it was easily our best fishing trip yet!

This year was a little slow for the big stripers but catching this monster crappie made up for it!

In September I decided to purchase a small fishsing boat. Just in time for the fall Strawberry Res fishing.

Here's a Cut Jon caught. The biggest cut I've seen pulled out of the lake. 24 inches!
